Local Spots to Drink Great Wine in Bologna

For a relatively small city, Bologna has many fantastic wine bars to taste your way through Italy, and occasionally other European countries. There are countless places to enjoy local pasta, meats, sweets, and cheese. We recommend taking a walking wine tour, or food tour to sample everything this amazing city has to offer.

While many bars and restaurants offer great wine, it can be hard to find places dedicated to natural wines. All recommended wine bars below are your best bet for finding small production, organic and biodynamic bottles.

Many of these Bologna wine bars offer small bites, while some have full menus to give you a true taste of Bologna’s excellent food and wine. All mentioned wine bars sell bottles to go, acting as wine shops, in addition to offering wine to be enjoyed in-house.  If you’re also looking for great places to eat, check out our guide to the top restaurants in Bologna.

Bologna is a very walkable city and to indulge in all the food and drinks it has to offer, you must stay in the historic center.  Our top recommendations are Phi Hotel (also called Al Cappello Rosso) and Hotel Corona D’Oro

Bivio Enoteca

Bivio also offers artisanal meats, cheeses, and vegetarian options for aperitivo or a late night snack.  Regularly hosting winemaker tastings, be sure to follow them on Instagram for the latest events.  In the summer they even host events at nearby vineyards.
